Light and darkness are more than emotions or feelings.  They are closer to motivational patterns that drive human beings in different directions.  However, even this is merely a layer of description, for at their source, light and darkness are energies of Creation, brought forth out of an ultimate Unity at a time when all things came into being. 

    One can look at these energies simply on the human level in terms of their expression within the thoughts and actions of individuals or of mankind as a whole.  Or, one can look at them in terms of their point of origin and the ways in which individual or collective consciousness can set itself free from darkness in order to remain firmly held in the light.  

   To understand the action of purification by which light and darkness become separated, enabling the darkness to be released into the light, it is important to look at the formative process by which the energies came into being.  This is the cosmic or ultimate level of their expression and lies behind their manifestation on the human plane.
